		<description>Hi Lilly,

I'm sorry to hear about the layoff... This is not a great time to look for a job, but I think that the networking you are currently doing is a great step in the right direction, and I'm sure that with this mindset you'll find the job you are looking for.

This being said, my experience, and this article is about incentive compensation management and sales performance management; I actually know very little about compensation and benefits!

My recommendation would be to visit some "generalist" HR blogs. In my blogroll I link to a few awesome people who should be able to able to provide more information. If you haven't connected with them already, pay a visit to HR Wench: http://hrwench.blogspot.com/, HR Minion: http://hrminion.blogspot.com/, Compensation Force: http://compforce.typepad.com/, and PunkRock HR: http://punkrockhr.com/.

Good luck and let me know how the job hunt goes!

<description>Thank you so much for your sharing and giving me some direction on how to get into compensation and benefits. I have about 10 years in HR (staffing, ER, HRIS and payroll). I was exposed to benchmarking and salary surveys as a corporate recruiter and it peaked my interest to learn more about compensation.

I was recently laid off. I am filling my time with my PHR certification studies, networking and volunteering. I would love the opportunity to volunteer or take a position that would expose me to compensation and benefits. If you know of any free webinars, possible positions, please let me know as well. I want to learn!

Sincerely,
Lilly Lang
