Offshore Outsourcing - Humor of the Week
I probably shouldn’t be writing on my blog, and go to bed instead. I haven’t had the chance to write much because this week is the last week on a project, and the typical “crunch” time. I’m sure that crunch is unavoidable, no matter how much time is assigned to the project or how hard one works… It’s just something that must be accepted, along with all Murphy’s laws. Actually, I should come up with a list of consulting / comp Murphy’s laws if it’s not done already.
Instant Messengers
I usually have some Instant Messenger (IM) application opened while I work. Not because I have time to chat with friends, but because it is a great tool to quickly contact people. I find it quicker than e-mail and quicker than a phone call… and it’s something I can do while I’m on the phone. One of my challenge, is that many client and business partners use different IM technologies; some use MSN, some use AIM, some use Yahoo, and some even use Google.
About two years ago, I tried to find a solution to unify all those applications, and found out about Meebo. Unlike other similar applications, Meebo is web based, does not require any downloads, and works very well. One login and I get all my messengers under one interface. If you are in that situation, I hope this will help!
Humor
The Meebo team has a blog with the latest post that pops up on the Meebo interface by default. A few days ago, one of their interns had a post about some system admin rules. I thought I would share some of those rules:
- Always have a backup plan
- Test your work before go-live
- Ensure compatibility
- Communicate with your team members
Starting next week, I promise a series of very interesting articles about Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and methodologies for packaged compensation application implementation. Stay tuned.

Once in a while I review the statistics for this blog to find out which keywords people use to find me. Surprisingly, people often find this blog when looking for funny sales compensation jokes. Here is a good one for your enjoyment.
The Sales Manager and the Bear
A sales manager and an operation manager went bear hunting. While the operation manager stayed in the cabin, the sales manager went out looking for a bear. He soon found a huge bear, shot at it but only wounded it.
The enraged bear charged toward the sales manager, who started running for the cabin as fast as he could. He ran pretty fast but the bear was just a little faster and gained on him with every step. Just as he reached the open cabin door, he tripped and fell flat.
Too close behind to stop, the bear jumped over him and went rolling into the cabin. The sales manager jumped up, closed the cabin door and yelled to his friend inside, “You skin this one while I go and get another!”

One of my reader sent me a link to a funny video clip created to market Centive Compel on YouTube. It’s a song about a “sales guy” and a “finance guy” having… well some conflicts. It could be a good icebreaker before a dry ICM meeting. Click here to view this Compensation Management clip.
